About the event

Exhibition Opening: Saturday 21st, September at 2pm

Peter was born in Sydney and has lived here for most of his life. He is a full-time artist and writer. He has been a soldier and educator and is now a casual academic. He studied art at Meadowbank TAFE, graduating in painting and drawing. His major works are landscapes and figurative works in oils on canvas and mixed media on paper. Peter has drawn from his extensive travels and varied life experiences to shape his work and has exhibited widely.

Peter’s use of negative space and the dissonance of his line creates a unique perspective of the Australian landscape. He has explored the nuances of abstract expressionism focusing on bush landscapes drawn mostly from his painting and drawing trips in the Blue Mountains and west of The Great Dividing Range. Preferring to see the Australian landscape as a symphony of trees, his lyrical depiction of the places he has set up his easel engages the viewer in a conversation about the bush and a perspective on our national character.
