The SOHO Art Prize provides a prominent platform for artists at various points in their careers, ranging from emerging talents to well-established professionals, who practice their craft across the diverse Australian landscape and beyond. The exhibition encompasses a wide array of 2D mediums, including, but not limited to, painting, drawing, and photography.

The 2024 SOHO Art Prize theme is ‘Water’.  This precious commodity is of paramount importance to Australia.  As the world's largest island continent, it plays a dual role in sustaining life and driving our nation's unique character. This theme can be interpreted in a variety of ways, and we encourage artists working in all genres to submit work.

The finalists' works will be on public display from 6 - 20 March at SOHO Studio, and the announcement of the prize winners will take place online on Saturday 9 March at 7 pm.

Framed artworks must be wired or have d-rings attached for hanging. If magnets are required, they must be supplied by the artist. Unlabeled works may not be exhibited, and the exhibition fee will not be refunded. Artists can enter multiple works, such as diptychs or triptychs, as a single work if approved by Prize staff, but they must adhere to specific requirements.

Unsold works must be collected by the artist or a nominated proxy from SOHO Studio between 10 am and 4 pm on March 20, 2024. A $100 late fee will be charged for work not collected by this date. Works not collected by April 20, 2024, will be disposed of.

Artists can nominate a proxy for collection, and their names must be emailed to the Prize team, with matching ID required for collection. Interstate and remote artists can have unsold works posted back via courier, but this is the only option for postal returns. Artists should not send stamps or return packaging with their artwork.

Artists must contact the gallery before the exhibition's closing date to request this service and confirm their address by March 14, 2024. Only clearly labeled packaging, suitable for reuse, will be stored for courier returns. Courier returns must be requested by March 14, 2024. SOHO Studio will obtain a courier quote for returning the artworks at the end of the exhibition, with return costs at the artist's expense. Artists who wish to make their own in-person or proxy collection arrangements must inform the gallery before the exhibition ends. Courier returns may take up to 30 days due to the volume of works. Artists must notify SOHO Studio of their courier return details by March 14, 2024; entering their address on the application form does not count as requesting courier return.

SALE OF ARTWORKS

A 30% commission on artwork sales applies, including GST where applicable. In the event of a sale, the bank details provided on the entry form will be used for payment, so artists should ensure their bank details are correct at the time of entry.
